Wheelhaus is a leader in creating innovative portable small homes suitable for temporary accommodation or for vacation purposes. Founder and CEO Jamie Mackay who had been inspired by his father who worked in the log cabin construction industry whereby Jamie had come to believe in the value of quality construction and workmanship. In search of a Recreational Park Trailer for himself, he soon came to realize that there was nothing being made that met his high standards and expectations.
It naturally transpired that Jamie spotted a gap in the market that he could fill utilizing his knowledge, and experience to create the next generation of Park Model homes. He made it his goal to create and deliver high quality, convenient luxury living in a durable Park Model style home that would be on a par with the log cabins he had come to know growing up, all whilst incorporating both energy efficiency into the modern designs
With a built in fireplace and a functional simple kitchen, there are all the creature comforts at hand in the Wedge designed home. All units come “turn key” with all appliances and hardware included and all you will need is your own furniture.
The Wheelhaus brand of convenient transportable compact homes was born. The Rolling Cabins that they produce are a blend of both modern and rustic styles. All taking their inspiration from the craftsmanship of log cabins and an overall attention to detail that also focuses on energy efficiency, innovative design, progressive space management, sustainable building practices and top of the line building materials. Their construction methods exceed the requirements for the Gold standard with the U.S. Green Building Council.
Often finished with more than features than a small apartment, they are pitched at under $100,000 and yet they can offer the same comforts of home, like a fireplace, air conditioning, full kitchens, a rain shower, private patio deck area and even wifi.
The kitchen is not short changing you in any way, there is plenty of space for you to still be able use all the mod cons you’ve become accustomed to; a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher and a reasonable kitchen bench top to create your culinary masterpiece.
The Wheelhaus designs are both innovative in their design and unique in the RPT Industry due primarily to their space management, the high quality construction, and top of the line materials used.
With more than half a dozen designs styles now available, the core concept is based around a 400 sq feet living space and a smaller 100 sq feet outdoor area. There is some flexibility to the design and they even offer financing, transportation to your site and setting everything up for you.
The Wedge Design
The ‘Wedge’ design which we feature on this page has an angled roof, that starts low above the bedroom and builds to 17 feet in the living room. Trapezoidal windows grow similarly from back to front, offering natural light while maintaining privacy. The front of the cabin is almost entirely glass with a large sliding glass door opening onto a private deck.
The cabin has a single bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen/living room and a private deck. The ceilings and exterior side are covered with rustic cedar siding with a barnwood patina colored stain.
The bedrooms are sized to fit a king size bed with two side tables and linen lamp style sconces. A set of four drawers and an under-counter hanging closet support a butcher-block counter top, which also serves as a desk. A spot for a 42-inch Internet accessible HD flat screen television is provided so you could mount one above the desk.
The kitchen/living room was designed to offer both comfort and functionality. The small kitchen features a two-burner cook top, an under counter refrigerator, a microwave, a dishwasher, a sink, concrete countertops and modern rustic cabinetry.
This picture shows a large bomber leather sofa, two cowhide ottomans, two barn wood side tables, custom made wrought iron lamps and railroad cart coffee tables make up living room furnishings. These don’t come with the standard build but are displayed to show you how you could setup your own decor. A mini-high efficiency gas burning fireplace warms the room. Above the fireplace you could choose to add a second 42 inch HD flat-screen television.
The bathrooms are also small but functional. Heavy duty glass showers, Kohler toilets and custom vanities with concrete countertops/sinks and quartzite floors, combine to produce very well appointed facilities
