Modern bathroom hardwood and laminate flooring materials can make a bathroom look sophisticated, trendy, and very expensive. Many people love wooden floors in their home. They often end up renovating older homes that have carpet and old lino floors, where they rip up the old carpets, remove the old lino floors, exposing what is often a beautiful timber floor beneath, and then sanding the floors to a consistent finish, and then polyurethaning the wooden floor to a glossy, or semi glossy finish that radiates like golden honey.
Lots of other home owners aren’t that lucky to be blessed with a hidden goldmine of timber flooring already, and so they have to choose from some of the modern choices for a timber look. Usually, the end choice is dictated by budget levels, and this can either mean an expensive solid wooden floor is laid, that comes with numerous long term benefits, or alternatives like a laminated ‘look-a-like’ timber floor is chosen.

Perhaps your bathroom itself doesn’t really need to be renovated, but you feel it needs something new to brighten and freshen it up a little. There are a number of relatively economical ways to brighten a bathroom, or to at least bring it up to date, without having to install new showers, toilets, baths, wall tiles, and the like. Why not give it a lick of white paint? And perhaps even a new floor?

A new laminate floor in the bathroom can certainly be a value-add item to your bathroom(s) and especially if you’re selling the house and you just want to make look a million dollars without spending a fortune. Laminate flooring is usually easy to install and maintain, comes in a variety of different styles and designs and actually offers a reasonable long term durability.

Some people still have the perception that a laminate floor should not be installed in a bathroom, however these days, laminate floors have come such a long way and the product is usually warranted for long periods, so its durability isn’t an issue.

The problem may be when or if, you experience excessive moisture levels within the bathroom, or water leakages, that can get into the core of the laminate causing it to swell. Instances like these are rare, and although it means the damaged part of the floor would need to be replaced, at least it can be done relatively inexpensively compared to replacing a solid timber bathroom floor.

The thing is, if you’re interested in a wooden floor look in your bathroom, then choosing a great looking laminate flooring will not only look fantastic, it’s relatively easy to lay, it’ll wear well, but it won’t cost you a fortune.
